Our November trip included a storytime focused on healthy living for the kindergarten and first grade students. Our special addition to this trip was the very first chance to use the Wii we purchased using grant funds! Our goal is to use the Wii to motivate exercise and movement, so we used is a fun dance-along game to get the kids moving. I’m happy to report it was a huge success! The kids took turns using the Wii’s nun chucks, had fun comparing their movement scores, and enjoyed dancing along during someone else’s turn.
Meanwhile, the second and third graders read a variety of books about folktales from around the world. Here were some of their favorites:
John Henry by Julius Lester
Once Upon a Royal Superbaby by Kevin O’Malley
Hosni the Dreamer: An Arabian Tale by Ehud Ben-Ezer
